GOAL Scholarship Program Continues to Lead in Providing School Choice, New Report Reveals

The newly released GOAL Report details the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program’s substantial impact on parental choice in education and highlights the positive effects of tax credit contributions on students, families, and communities. In the 16 years since Georgia’s Education Expense Credit program became law, GOAL has awarded $318 million in scholarships to more than 28,000 deserving students.

GOAL is committed to improving educational outcomes in Georgia, allocating 97.3% of its total revenue for scholarships and awarding 82% of scholarships to families with an adjusted gross income of less than $48,000. The Report showcases the program’s extensive diversity and statewide reach, with 46% of scholarships being awarded to Asian, Black/African American, and Hispanic/Latino students and 57% of scholarships being awarded outside of Metro Atlanta. This past year, students in 139 Georgia counties received GOAL scholarships.

In addition to providing financial and scholarship contribution and award results, the GOAL Report contains appreciative parent testimonials. In the words of the mother of Brandon Carver, who attends Tallulah Falls School on a GOAL Scholarship, “As a single mother for most of my child’s life, I would never be able to afford private school. However, my son struggled in public. My son has such a bright future now and the GOAL Scholarship along with TFS has made that possible. I am forever grateful!”

The GOAL Report also highlights the continued and indispensable support of businesses throughout Georgia, who well-understand the importance of providing more choices to the consumers in the K-12 education marketplace. Georgia’s business community is engaged more than ever in this philanthropic tax credit opportunity.

In a message to all GOAL contributors in the introduction to the Report, President and CEO Ben Saylor explains, “We are grateful to each GOAL tax credit contributor for your role in providing educational options to families and improving Georgia’s K-12 education landscape. As we continue implementing the largest and most impactful school choice program in Georgia, I commit to you our continued high standards of ethics, integrity, customer service, and results.”
