A recent article published in the Dalton Daily Citizen sheds light on the reality that more and more families who are unsatisfied with their local public schools are seeking an alternative means of educating their children. Some are choosing private schools, while others are home schooling their children.
“There’s no right or wrong way in education,” said Karen Townsend, a Dalton resident whose children attend Christian Heritage School. “Everybody just has to figure out what works best for their children.”
Reasons for the decision of many to move their children out of the local public school system include a desire for a family-like environment with parent involvement, more focus on discipline, and higher expectations from educators.
