Pennsylvania Expands K-12 Tuition Tax Credit Offerings

Last Saturday, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett and the Pennsylvania legislature concluded a budget deal that increases from $75 million to $100 million the annual amount awarded under the existing Education Improvement Tax Credit ("EITC") k-12 scholarship program. In addition, the budget broadens the EITC by adding $50 million in tax credits for businesses that donate money for scholarships to students who reside in the attendance area of the lowest-performing 15 percent of public schools, more than one-third of which are located in Philadelphia.
